Where History and Nature Meet

Explore a village where trails, heritage, and community thrive.

About us

Historic Altamont, Inc. is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in August 2018 to promote and preserve the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of the Village of Altamont and the surrounding Helderberg region. Through community collaboration, thoughtful stewardship, and creative initiatives, we connect people with the past while celebrating the distinctive character and landscapes that define Altamont.

current projects

Our new Community Kiosk, located at the heart of the village, highlights the Long Path extension while serving as a welcoming hub for residents and visitors. Meanwhile, a trail network planning project is underway to expand existing trails and link them to nearby parks and preserves. Together, these initiatives celebrate Altamont’s unique character and make its natural and recreational resources more accessible to all.
