Where History and Nature Meet

Explore a village where trails, heritage, and community thrive.

About us

Historic Altamont, Inc. is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in August 2018 to promote and preserve the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of the Village of Altamont and the scenic Helderberg region. Through community collaboration and thoughtful stewardship, we work to honor our shared past while celebrating the unique character and landscape that define Altamont.

current projects

We are excited to introduce a new community kiosk in the heart of the village, showcasing the recent Long Path extension. Additionally, a trail network planning project is underway to expand existing trails and connect them to nearby parks and preserves. Through these efforts, we aim to enhance the village’s charm, accessibility, and overall appeal for both residents and visitors alike.
