Where History and Nature Meet

Explore a village where trails, heritage, and community thrive.

About us

Historic Altamont, Inc. is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in August 2018 to promote and preserve the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of the Village of Altamont and the surrounding Helderberg region. Through community collaboration and thoughtful stewardship, we work to honor our shared past while celebrating the unique character and landscape that define Altamont.

current projects

Our new community kiosk, located in the heart of the village, has been recently completed. Designed to showcase the Long Path extension, the kiosk also serves as a welcoming hub for residents and visitors. In addition, a trail network planning project is underway to expand existing trails and connect them to nearby parks and preserves. Together, these initiatives celebrate Altamont’s character and expand access to nature and recreation.
